Lowes Foods will be creating a team of 4 marketing interns who will work collaboratively to solve marketing challenges. Together, the intern team will conduct an assessment of the competitive landscape for digital marketing. The team will also work together to map the guest journey through Lowes Foods' digital experience. At the end of the experience, the team will have the opportunity to present these projects to Lowes Foods' senior management team. In addition, each intern will have individual responsibilities focused on different areas to include email, website, digital asset management, and graphic design. The focused areas are listed below.
Internship 1 - Email Focus
Learn the role of email as a communication channel.
Assist with email scheduling and content planning. Develop email series for our holiday gift program.
Exposure to multi-channel marketing communications planning process.
Responsible for providing a review of how we currently compare to competition in the email channel as part of the team competitive assessment project. Provide recommendations around what we can improve, and how to enhance guest experience and engagement over email.
Internship 2 - Website Focus
Learn our current platform and template process for the site.
Assist with content planning and regular page updates.
Exposure to multi-channel communications planning process and how the website integrates within that planning process.
Project Expectations: Identify opportunities within the site to make it more engaging and representative of the Lowes Foods brand. Work with the Digital Asset Management team and Digital Marketing team to build out a suggested content strategy for the Holiday Gift Box campaign.
Internship 3 - Digital Asset Management Focus
Learn how digital assets including photography and graphic design work is tagged and cataloged in a digital asset management system. Understand the taxonomy developed to ensure effective tagging for optimal ease of retrieval.
Assist with tagging and loading assets and developing training for different areas of the business. Identify opportunities for enhanced tagging and content organization.
Exposure to training development and change management.
Project expectations: Identify areas within our content archive where we are missing images to truly and effectively represent the Originals within the digital landscape. Develop a simplified user guide for hosts within the organization to retrieve content on their own with minimal complications and expected assistance from Marketing.
Internship 4 - Graphic Design Focus
Learn brand guidelines for each of our Original concepts.
Assist with creation of assets needed for digital channels. Bring to life the Originals by leveraging existing content in new innovative ways that will be more digitally impactful.
Exposure to multi-channel marketing communications process and seasonal campaign development.
Project Expectations: Assess current method of digital content creation process and provide recommendations for improvement. Identify how competition is leveraging digital content and recommend how Lowes Foods can creatively leverage content to enhance guest engagement.
Pursuing degree in Marketing, Advertising or similar field
Expert writing and proofing skills
Graphic design and digital software experience (for Graphic Design Focus)
Minimum rising Sophomores, preferably rising Juniors, Seniors, or Grad Students
