Job Description

We are seeking a Summer 2024 Intern with our HR Operations function within our Global Human Resources organization. This role will be base in our Alpharetta, Ga. office.

The Human Resources Internship Program is a 10-week developmental opportunity tailored for aspiring HR professionals keen on delving into the function and within Insurance/Reinsurance industry. Throughout the program, HR interns engage in close collaboration with seasoned HR professionals, immersing themselves in the multifaceted aspects of the function.

They actively participate in hands-on experiences and receive personalized mentorship in the workplace, gaining invaluable insights into how to effectively support and enable our company's success. This internship offers a pathway for professional growth and potential long-term career prospects within our organization.

What can I expect as an Intern?

On-the-job Learning

Insurance requires a high degree of experience and expertise - something you can't learn in the classroom. Sompo International interns are immersed in the day-to-day activities of their team, assisting Underwriters in exposure analysis and operational analysis of insureds, compiling a competitor analysis from a publicly available database, working with Underwriting Assistants in developing renewal lists, contacting brokers for submissions, and accompany underwriters during internal meetings and occasional external marketing calls.

Activities, Learning and Development

Throughout the program, Interns will have the opportunity to hear from executive leaders, participate in structured, engaging leadership learnings, participate in networking events and activities with peers, members of our Executive team and outside brokerage firms, and be part of a project to present to their manager and mentor.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.3

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands. Ability to collaborate an absolute must.

• Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to analyze, consolidate and summarize findings in a PowerPoint presentation.

• Local to the desired office location or able to secure housing and transportation in the area.

• Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Salary Range: $20-22 per hour. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
