  • Events The Alzheimers Association provides a variety of education, information, support services, and advocacy to persons with dementia, their families, healthcare professionals and the community.
    As the number of persons affected by Alzheimers disease escalates, there is an increased demand for programs and services.
    With this demand, the Alzheimers Association also requires more funding to provide these needed services.
    This intern position is needed to assist with the Alzheimers Associations signature event, the Walk to End Alzheimers . The intern will be assisting the Walk Manager for a particular Walk(s) for the duration of the internship with one priority area of focus: Event Experience.
    The Event Experience intern will be responsible for day of event logistical needs and recruits and secures day of event entertainment and food/refreshment donations to ensure a great event experience for all participants.
    The Event Experience intern works with the Walk Manager and committee members to ensure Walk day components are well planned.

    During regular business hours of 9:00 a.m.
  • 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; Flexible Schedule with a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.
    Location: The Illinois Chapter in Chicago, IL.
    This Internship is unpaid and reports to the Manager, Special Events.

  • December) Essential Job Functions: Be knowledgeable about mission of the Alzheimers Association and how Walk fuels that mission.
    In coordination with Walk Manager, develop a plan of action to ensure Walk day logistical needs are met both prior to and during event.
    Work with the Walk Manager and Day of/Logistics Chair to help secure in-kind donations including water, refreshments, food, entertainment and other critical onsite needs.
    Work with Walk Manager to coordinate all vendors, including table and chair rentals, tents, portable restrooms, transportation, equipment, balloon arch, start/finish line, staging, and route needs.
    Adhere to Walk event timeline.
    Continually report progress to Walk Manager.
    Ensure Walk route is exciting, motivational, entertaining and safe for Walkers.
    Implement an exciting Walk start line and finish line experience including the Thank You Brigade best practice.

    Minimum Requirements: Students who apply must currently be enrolled as a full time student at a college or university.
    Preferred majors: Communications, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Parks and Recreation.
    Car and drivers license are required (will reimburse approved mileage). This position requires an individual to be self-motivated and committed to seeing a project from start to finish.
    Student should be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong communication skills.
    Strong organizational and customer service skills are a must.

    Training will be provided on the job by Supervisor.
    Measurable goals will be established by Supervisor.

This position develops event identity, value proposition, vitals, audience experience, programming/content assumptions, style/flow mandates, promotion, production & operational musts, timeline, and data strategy for each assigned event. The National Event Manager oversees implementation of production, operations, logistics and promotional plans across all markets. Working cross departmentally with event sales, programming, marketing, and regional leaders to create first class event experiences that drive audience and generate consumer and sponsor revenue. Responsibilities * Set creative and operational direction for design, development and execution of all event in assigned pillars. * Create playbooks establishing purpose, audience, dynamics, experience, standard operating procedures and guidelines for all events in pillar. * Develop exceptional attendee experience from first point of contact, through flow of event, post event touch points and year-round communications. * Design fear of missing out and can't buy experiences into each assigned event. * Oversee and manage execution of event playbooks. Ensure benchmarks and timelines are met and adhered to by producers. * Manage timely delivery of projects and materials ensuring fiscally responsible development and execution, with appropriate accountability and oversight of producers on assigned projects. * Oversight of production, venues, vendors, operations & logistics. * Manage day to day oversight of all producers on assigned projects to ensure highest level of efficiencies and productivity. * Liaison with programming, regional leaders, and internal and external partners to integrate content into event programming to align with audience passion points and drive attendance. * Conceptualize, manage and implement strategies for sponsorship integration. * Develop data capture strategy with multiple touch points to understand audience passion points and desired engagement. * Monitor event industry trends and make recommendations to keep events team positioned as a leader in the industry. * Understand and stay current with assigned categories and audiences in sufficient depth to support inactive growth and strategic design * Research new and existing partnerships that would benefit from across all events. * Evaluates and implement new scalable events, activations and technologies. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related event experience. * Minimum 8+ years of event management, marketing, production, and operations experience required. * Senior leadership experience in conceptualizing and producing events. * Full spectrum of event management capabilities from strategy to execution. * Excellent marketing, promotion and design skills. * Ability to create, manage and track event P&L's and timelines * Ability to organize, multi-task and maintain professional customer service skills. * Ability to work well under pressure and be key decision maker both onsite. * Strong ability collaborate and partner with internal and external partners. * Travel required * Must be able to change work assignments on short notice and be able to work any shift, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
