Job Summary

DEFINITION: Under the direct supervision of a school psychologist or credentialed school counselor.

Provides counseling services to pupils and parents. Uses counseling and consultation techniques to promote pupil motivation and adjustment to school. Community and home environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Implements the philosophy, goals policies and objectives of the school district as adopted by the Board of Education. 2. Assists teachers in creating a flexible program and classroom environment which enhances individual growth. 3.

Assists teachers in motivating pupils to develop the skills and attitudes which promote the acquisition of knowledge and participation in a democratic society. 4. Provides services to pupils through consultation, individual and group counseling, and classroom involvement. 5. Assists teachers in using the principles of behavior management and other useful techniques in the classroom. 6.

Assists pupils in making academic progress consistent with their abilities. 7. Counsels pupils and their parents regarding matters relating to learning attitude. 8. Assists the psychological services department in the preparation of assessments. 9.

Attends IEP meetings when appropriate. 10. Performs other related services as assigned. 12. Establishes effective rapport with pupils and school personnel. 13.

Establishes a working relationship with parents and members of the school community. 14. Assists pupils in effecting a smooth transition between school and home, and between school levels. 15. Edjoin Certificated Application Letter of intent Resume Three (3) Letters of Recommendation - letters must be current (within the last two calendar years) Official transcripts (can be turned in later) Copy of License/Credential Background clearance TB clearance
