The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer Intern that will assist in establishing the overall Manufacturing strategy for Sensus/Xylem product lines. The successful candidate will embrace a team-oriented manufacturing-driven environment and will bring experience designing, implementing and sustaining Manufacturing Product/Processes.
Act as 1st level escalation point for Manufacturing/Process issues
Provide hourly capacity (Cycle Times) per manufacturing Process
Document and Maintain Manufacturing Process Maps
Root Cause and Resolve Manufacturing Related Issues
Perform Routine Time Studies
Load Routers and other pertinent manufacturing related data in ERP System
Creating/Modifying Manufacturing Work/Rework Instructions
GRR for Manufacturing Process Equipment
Continuously refine and improve manufacturing process, methods, and metrics to reduce product cost
Identify, analyze, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered by the test and/or process.
Identify/Implement cost savings opportunities.
Analyze and quantify data to resolve process, test and operational issues.
Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Knowledge of assembly processes: soldering (including solder joint characteristics), conformal coating, adhesive bonding, welding, and precision mechanical assembly
MS Office software applications
Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Self-motivated; able to demonstrate initiative and operate independently
Desire and ability to learn new tools and design techniques
Display organizational and leadership skills in a project team environment
