Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations

Nature of Work

The reason the position exists is to manage the
City of Montgomery's IT internet exchange function.� The work responsibilities include: managing a
departmental sub-function within the Information Technology Department;
directing and optimizing operations of a Montgomery Internet Exchange (MGMix)
facility; designing operating procedures and policies for installing,
configuring, and maintaining servers, routers, switches, and storage systems
within the MGMix; monitoring the MGMix overall status and health; reporting
issues to the Data Center management; providing technical infrastructure
service and presentation to internal and external clients; and coordinating
with the Chief of Technology Officer (CTO). This position reports to the Chief
Technology Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer information
systems or information technology and five (5) years of networking, routing,
infrastructure management, network management, vendor management, and an
extensive understanding of internet traffic and BGP routing.
NOTE:� Qualifying education, training and experience
that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job
will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work outside of normal work
hours in order to manage critical IT problems that occur.

Kind of Examination
