Job Summary:
The International Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing and ensuring the company's compliance with all import and export regulations, with a focus on Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This role involves working closely with internal teams and external partners to classify products accurately, ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, and support the company's global trade operations. The Compliance Specialist will play a key role in maintaining the company's compliance programs, conducting audits, and providing necessary training.
Essential Functions:
Accurately classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and assign Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) based on technical specifications and regulatory guidelines
Act as Export Control Officer to ensure compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) for defense-related products and technology.
Monitor and ensure adherence to U.S. export control regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions
Conduct regular audits of import/export transactions
Develop and deliver training programs for employees on HTS codes, ECCN classifications, ITAR, and general trade compliance
Identify potential compliance risks in the company's global trade operations
Work closely internal teams and Customs brokers to ensure compliance is integrated into all relevant business processes
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Strong understanding of U.S. export controls, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
