International Summer Internship Program

Representing a partnership between Rolls-Royce, the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech, the International Summer Internship offered by Rolls-Royce is a unique experience to help differentiate you from the crowd. Our program is designed to give you an immersive, hands-on experience as you work in an international environment, alongside some of the world's finest professional and technical minds.
The internship is 12 weeks in duration, starting in May and ending in August. You'll gain practical experience on real-life assignments that will put your theoretical knowledge to the test.
Along the way, you'll work alongside some true experts and be taught valuable skills. You may get a chance to join our graduate program a fantastic start to a career with one of the world's most prestigious companies.
What you'll do
As an intern, you'll be assigned an engineer as your line manager, so you'll be learning directly from a skilled professional. All the projects you do will be in support of a real business need, with a direct link to our products and customers.
It makes for a fantastic opportunity to share your ideas and genuinely make a difference. Not only will you receive on-the-job training, you'll develop a host of transferable skills. Your day-to-day tasks will vary and you'll receive support from different people within the business, all of whom will be committed to helping you to deliver your best.
What you'll need
We want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience academically, socially and in any previous work situations. You'll be attending the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech, working towards a degree in Engineering with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, graduating between December 2019 and August 2020.
Flexibility is important too, as you could be based at any of our sites. Previous internships in this program include placements in Derby, Cambridge, and Bristol in the UK, as well as Berlin and Singapore.
To be considered, you must also be a U.S. Citizen/Resident, Asylee, Refugee or have permanent/indefinite work authorization. There is no visa sponsorship for this position.
