Bumble is looking for a super organized, detail-focused, problem solver to oversee one of the most important functions of our business: ensuring all our staff across the globe are paid correctly and feel valued!

This is not a typical payroll processing role. Bumble currently works with staff in 9 countries, with a number of different payroll setups - so not only will you be overseeing activity in the US, you will also work with our payroll partner organizations to keep things running smoothly, according to local requirements, in Germany, India and Australia - to name but a few.

The International Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be the primary point of contact for any payroll and benefits related activities. You will develop & follow policies and procedures for payroll processing and timekeeping, ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and timely, as well as researching and implementing various benefits-related projects. This individual will also focus on maintaining and administering all payroll and benefits systems and files.

This role will be based at Bumble HQ in Austin, TX and will report to the Global Director of Finance, while also working closely with the People & Culture and International Operations teams.


  • Payroll

  • Process international and domestic payrolls on a semi-monthly and monthly pay frequency in a fast-paced, high-growth company with international operations

  • Completes the end to end payroll processing cycles, collects all relevant input data, performs audits for payroll accuracy and submits payrolls for approval.

  • Acts as a liaison to resolve payroll related issues for our employees, internal partners and vendors

  • Advises, interprets and provides direction to management and peers on policies and procedures, Country specific Federal, state and local laws and regulations involving payroll.

  • Compiles financial, tax and payroll reports for both internal and external purpose; submits to supervisor for review.

  • Interface with foreign payroll processing firms to ensure timely payment of foreign employees and adherence to diverse regulatory matters for the foreign locations

  • Maintain & administer the payroll system and files

  • Work with People team to maintain and update payroll related employee records (salaries, benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, direct deposits, etc.)

  • Manage the maintenance and handling of garnishments or other court ordered deductions

  • Track bonus/commission/vacation and other payroll related accruals

  • Assist employees with payroll related questions

  • Assist in reconciling employee benefits to payroll deductions

  • Assist in researching payroll discrepancies and proper corrective action as needed to achieve compliance and accuracy

  • Monitor and reconcile all required payroll reports and ensure that such reports comply with established policies, procedures, and requirements

  • Work with the payroll vendor to ensure payroll tax compliance in applicable states and countries

  • Performs other duties as assigned

BenefitsOversee daily benefits administration and processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, LOA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.Research global employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value. Design, recommend, implement new benefits programs. Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes. Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates.Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans. Allocate group health and dental claims monthly and reviews quarterly.Perform plan audits. Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs, and identify the company's stance.Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding. Prepare budgetary recommendations and assist in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds.Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.Provide training as needed and develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package including the design and distribution of materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.

  • 3-5 years of payroll processing and benefits administration experience with progressive growth in responsibilities - process documentation, SOP, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of in-house payroll and benefits principles, practices, taxation, regulations and procedures in the US (and, ideally, abroad).

  • Understanding and experience in handling 'unconventional' international payroll setups a plus, e.g. third party employment via Employer of Record (EOR) Prior experience using a in house and/or 3rd party payroll system

  • Knowledge of all pertinent US federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL

  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals (RFPs).

  • Intermediate Excel skills to include use of pivots and Vlookups.

Activities include daily, monthly, and yearly activities such as processing new hire enrollments, terminations, qualifying events changes, COBRA notices, resolving employee benefits issues and questions, reconciling monthly carrier invoices, and annual reporting such as ACA compliance. * Utilize knowledge of benefit plans, including H.S.A., F.S.A., 401k, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, and ADD/Life, with various insurance carriers to give advice to the client. * Assist the clients with open enrollment for their employees; selection of plans, build channel for employees to elect plans, develop communication campaign to inform employees, and then update the HRIS/Payroll employee selections. * And any other duties deemed reasonably necessary.
