This is an internal position with California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) You must be a current staff member hired by CAVA @ Fresno, CAVA @ Kings, CAVA @ Maricopa, CAVA @ Los Angeles, CAVA @ San Diego, CAVA @ San Joaquin, CAVA @ San Mateo, CAVA @ Sonoma, CAVA @ Sutter April/May Monthly Password To Apply ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELOR POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California.

We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Newrow platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log into the online school daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions. Our Guidance Counselors have a full caseload and manage all aspects of a child's educational plan.

Counselors manage a wide variety of job duties that include, but are not limited to, working with at-risk students, college applications, financial aid, 4 Year Plans, college preparation, post-graduate plans, concurrent enrollment, creating schedules, and ensuring that students are on track to graduate. Working in an online environment is a unique and rewarding experience. Counselors that work for the California Virtual Academies work at a quick pace and often manage many tasks at once.

Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIRED CREDENTIAL/CERTIFICATION: (All applicants MUST have the following at the time of applying) • Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 CA counties we service/hire in) • Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling or letter from credential program stating that you will meet all requirements and be recommended for the PPS credential at the end of the Spring semester 2024. (must attach letter to application to be considered) We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account.
