Internal Posting Material Handler -Shift Lead

Job Description

This job is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Material Handling position while supervising other Material Handlers. Responsible for operating a forklift for the purpose of moving, locating, stacking, and counting merchandise to support the production shift assigned. Position also serves as an after-hours receiver, along with loading and unloading trucks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

• Maintains supplies of materials to production floor and routers.

• Assists with implementing and sustaining procedures put in place.

• Gathers and analyzes data to determine root causes of problems that occur.

• Accountable for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and radio frequency and bar code equipment.

• Coaches department employees regarding performance and other workplace matters by following the Company's progressive discipline procedures; receives recommendations and directives from management and Human Resources for discipline beyond the coaching step, when appropriate.

• Holds the other Material Handlers accountable for all product transactions and product movements.

• Communicates with contingent staffing agency regarding staffing issues and assignments, if applicable.

• Removes finished products from the lines and routers.

• Removes goods from the staging area to the yard.

• Hangs bags of raw materials for the extruders.

• Clears out trash boxes and waste, scrap, and cut boards.

• Weighs up scrap and maintains proper paperwork for end of shifts.

• Keeps warehouse and storage areas neat and clean, including outside dumpster pad.

• Maintains proper inventory by using correct scanning procedures.

• Ensure compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and other directives of the department and the Company.
