Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as an Internal Communications Specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in fostering a positive and engaging workplace culture by supporting the execution of internal communication strategies and organizing employee events. The ideal candidate must have experience working closely with leadership, a strong background in communications, event planning, and a passion for creating a connected and vibrant work environment.

Note: This position follows a hybrid work model, with 3 days spent on-site and 2 days working remotely. The role is based out of our Portland, OR center of excellence (COE).

How will you contribute?

  • Build and maintain internal communication key dates and editorial calendar, ensuring alignment with other functional teams.

  • Craft compelling and engaging content for various communication channels, including emails, newsletters, intranet, and other internal platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and share updates on company initiatives, achievements, and important announcements.

  • Engage with senior leadership to ensure communications align with executive expectations, providing support and guidance as needed.

  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all internal communication channels.

  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and employee engagement programs, adjusting as needed.

  • Manage and update the company intranet using SharePoint, ensuring content is up-to-date, organized, and accessible to all employees.

  • Plan and execute virtual, hybrid, and in-person employee events such as All Company meetings, Town Halls, Leadership Office Hours, and other internal gatherings.

  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks related to internal communications, including document preparation and distribution, employee distribution list maintenance, etc.

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field

  • 2-3years' experience working in a corporate environment, technology industry, marketing agency, or startup

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, writing samples a plus

  • Experience in creating engaging written content for various communication channels.

  • Proficiency collaborating with design teams to develop multimedia content, such as graphics, videos, and presentations.

  • Experience with communication tools and platforms, including email systems, collaboration tools, and content management systems.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing feedback and data to continuously improve communication strategies.

  • Ownership mentality and proven ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively with others, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Proven experience interacting with high-level executives and C-Staff, exhibiting professionalism and poise.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint

  • Basic graphic design skills a plus

$72,000 - $82,000 a year

The above salary range represents Smarsh's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. Any applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process.

The salary for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training.

Local cost of living assessments are done for each new hire at the time of offer.
