POSITION SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Statewide Internal Audit Manager, the Internal Auditor/Healthcare Analyst collects, organizes and tabulates information on healthcare services delivered on the healthcare unit. Prepares narratives and statistical reports accurately and submits the same to appropriate supervisory staff in accordance with stated deadlines. Interacts with clinical and non-clinical staff and personnel in order to gather needed information.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists site in systems development to track and collect all needed data on a monthly basis. Recommends improvements to systems as needed.

  • Collects, organizes and tabulates healthcare services data collected for evaluation.

  • Analyzes collected data and prepares narrative and statistical report.

  • Submits accurate narrative and statistical reports in a timely manner.

  • Schedules meetings and appointments and notify those attending.

  • Participates in evaluation and operational improvement meetings to ensure an on-going evaluation process for the healthcare unit.

  • Prepares and delivers needed/assigned reports orally and in writing in a timely manner.

  • Recommends improvements to auditing systems/policies.

  • Participates in the development and delivery of auditing in-services for site staff.

  • Makes regular and frequent site visits to observe, monitor and audit.

  • Performs chart reviews utilizing EPHR and paper medical records.

  • Performs other clerical and administrative duties as needed.

  • Classifies and files all created documents to be maintained in the central office. Create a uniformed filing system to ensure all necessary documents are kept in an organized manner.

  • Protects confidentiality of information in written and verbal communications and maintains compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Participates in in-service education.

  • Tracks completion of all Corrective Action Plans.

  • Tracks deficiencies of each site.

  • Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the healthcare unit.

The duties and responsibilities outlined herein are for payroll purposes and are not all-inclusive; employees may be assigned other duties as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Will work from a home office. Site visits in medical setting in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and healthcare personnel. Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.

TRAVEL

Frequent travel to the correctional facilities throughout the Hagerstown and Cumberland Regions (MCIH, MCTC, RCI, WCI, and NBCI). May also include other travel in the State of Maryland.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

LICENSING: Current unrestricted Maryland RN license preferred.

CERTIFICATION: CQI certification a plus. CCHP (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum one (1) year analytical experience in a medical setting or health-related organization required. Previous experience in utilization management or quality management preferred. Correctional experience a plus.

OTHER PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Must possess critical thinking and ability to independently solve problems.

  • General math and analytical, planning, administrative and organizational skills essential.

  • Must be a committed self-starter, possess excellent editing skills, have the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Must be a highly organized and detail oriented individual who is capable of performing under a variety of requirements and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as resident's healthcare needs change. Your responsibilities: * Responsible for the direct supervision of community-based licensed, certified and non-certified clinical associates. * Assigns and directs work of subordinates; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems * Provides training and education to resident care associates on an ongoing basis with classroom in-services, and situation-specific training * Supervises the maintenance of resident charts and reviews documentation performed by care giving staff * As described and allowed in the Nurse Practice Act, assesses health, oversee medication administration, functional and psycho-social status of residents, initiates individualized service plans, proactively manages care and services for each resident, evaluates effectiveness and maximizes the resident's opportunity to remain in their environment * Manages the health care of residents, including the dissemination of information to families and associates. Ensures that family members are aware of resident's need for scheduled appointments * Participates in pre-admission screening of prospective new residents. Assures that required documentation is completed prior to or upon resident admission, including nursing assessments, service plans, and other assigned forms. Updates assessments as required by policy and as described/allowed in Nurse Practice Actor state regulation * Performs on-site evaluations of residents admitted to alternate care environments for treatment, and maintains contact with resident families with the intent of returning resident to Brookdale * Evaluates residents; documents changes in condition, and notifies executive director, physician, and resident's legally responsible party/family of resident's condition and reactions * Communicates with physicians regarding residents' status and condition changes.
