In lieu of an Associates Degree; a High School Graduate with 4 years of relevant experience is acceptable (Required)

Work Experience

2 years of directly related experience (Required)

No Degree: Total of 4 years of directly related experience in the healthcare industry, internal audit, legal, compliance, or government programs (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

Preferred Certifications/Licensures: HCCA Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) (Preferred)

Essential Functions

AUDITS, INVESTIGATIONS, AND SPECIAL PROJECTS:

Perform audits, investigations, and special projects in a thorough and accurate manner.

Conducts audit testing within a department in a timely manner to minimize disruption of daily operations.

Seeks information necessary for accurate completion of job responsibilities.

Prepares reports of audit observations, recommendations and conclusions after completion of data collection and testing processes.

Follows up with appropriate departments to review and discuss audit observations and recommendations in a timely manner after issuing draft reports.

Communicates audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a clear and professional manner.

Develops sound, logical conclusions based on audit observations.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:

Participates in developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures based on findings of audits and reviews.

Prepares reports of audit observations, recommendations and conclusions after completion of data collection and testing processes.

Follows up with appropriate departments to review and discuss audit observations and recommendations in a timely manner after issuing draft reports.

Communicates audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a clear and professional manner

Displays problem solving ability, initiative, reasoning ability, decision making techniques, and appropriate use of resources.

Develops sound, logical conclusions based on audit observations.

INTERNAL CONTROL PRINCIPLES:

Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of fundamental internal control principles, hospital operation and financial/accounting policies, departmental procedures in performing job duties and instructing other hospital personnel.

Keeps abreast of pertinent trends and developments in internal auditing, health care regulatory compliance and related areas.

Displays problem solving ability, initiative, reasoning ability, decision making techniques, and appropriate use of resources.

Develops sound, logical conclusions based on audit observations.

JUDGMENT:

Combines ethical judgment with technical skill within the policy and legal guidelines of the institution; understands the legal, social, economic, and political forces that influence the health care system.

Practices and maintains ethics relating to standards of practice and the hospital mission.

Displays problem solving ability, initiative, reasoning ability, decision making techniques, and appropriate use of resources.

Able to maintain confidences and treat sensitive information with the upmost respect.

Adheres to Code of Conduct and all Policies.

DOCUMENTATION:

Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.

Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.

Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users.

Uses correct terminology.

Conforms to required style and format

Additional Duties

Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.

Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.

Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.

Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).

Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.

Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.

For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.

Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
