  • Develop an Annual Audit Plan

  • Assists with development of Policies and Procedures

  • Complies with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

  • Performs and/or leads complex risk-based audits. Audits address financial risks including specialized regulatory pressures of the healthcare industry. Determines scope of review and establishes risk-based audit program.

  • Performs and/or leads audit evaluations to provide reasonable assurance that risk management, control, and governance systems are functioning as intended and will enable the organization to meet its objectives and goals. Conducts audit testing and identifies reportable issues and underlying root causes. Determines compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Reports risk management issues and internal control deficiencies via professionally written deliverables that are appropriate for all levels of management and governance, including the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Performs follow-up test work to confirm the completion of management action plans developed in response to audits.

  • Develops positive relationships and effectively communicates with audit clients.

Required Skills

Qualifications /Training:

Two years of audit-related experience in public accounting, internal audit, healthcare, or health insurance fields

Experience requiring effective problem-solving, critical thinking, process analysis, and other strong analytical skills

Experience in a role requiring strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Experience in managing or planning work assignments that require strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and managing time effectively with minimum supervision


Bachelor's degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution

CPA or CIA certification

VIEW JOBS 10/31/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-29T00:00 Compliance Auditor (CPC or CCS needed) NOTE: This job will start in January 2020 * Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. * Supports corporation's compliance and auditing efforts by collecting audit data, summarizing data, formulating reports and assisting in interpretation and analysis. * Supports Corporate Compliance Manager in the area of performing Evaluation & Management (E/M) and/or procedural service audits for McLeod Physician Associates (MPA) physicians and Nonphysician practitioners (NPPs), as well as Hospital based physicians and/or NPP services as requested. * Assists Corporate Compliance Manager in the education of McLeod Health physicians/NPPs in E/M documentation guidelines, coding, and audit reviews. * Responsible for self-motivation and self-scheduling work flow. * Attends/facilitates meetings as directed Qualifications/Training * Requires proficiency in E/M coding and documentation requirements. * Requires 3-5 years' experience in coding for physicians'/NPPs' professional services. * Requires proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing ability. * Requires proficiency in use of auditing software. * Requires excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills. * Requires demonstrated professionalism, tact and diplomacy. * Requires proficiency in presentation skills. * Requires ability to communicate effectively with people of variable cultural and educational backgrounds. * Requires the ability to perform under stressful conditions. * Requires driving to McLeod Health campuses/MPA offices throughout the region to meet with physicians, NPPs, and/or staff. * Provide additional support to Chief Compliance Officer and/or Compliance Manager as requested. * Maintains all required Continuing Education Units for certification requirements. * Minimum of 3 years' experience in CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education: * Minimal high school diploma/GED from an accredited school * National Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) OR American Health Information Management Association – appropriate certifications Mcleod Health Florence SC
