  • Location: This position is office based and will work out of one of the following offices:

  • Virginia Beach, VA

  • Mason, OH

  • Indianapolis, IN

  • Atlanta, GA

The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for coordinating and directing multiple teams to complete operational/financial audits and special projects.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists internal audit management in developing and completing the Audit Plan and providing status reports to executives.

  • Reviews and provides effective feedback on audit deliverables developed by the audit team.

  • Assigns work to auditors on specific audits, reviews their work and provides guidance and training.

  • Develops audit procedures that effectively evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and processes supporting the organization.

  • Checks the accuracy and reliability of accounting data and monitors adherence to prescribed policies.

  • Directs, counsels and instructs the auditors assigned to the team including reviewing their work for sufficiency of scope and adequacy of testing performed.

  • Produces well-written reports on the results of audits/reviews, including exceptions found and recommendations for corrective action.

Requires a BS/BA in accounting or finance; 5-8 years directly related work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Operational Audit experience

  • CPA

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)

  • Project Management experience

We are in search of an Audit Manager with public accounting experience to perform a variety of accounting tasks in audit and assurance. This role will be based in Norfolk, VA and is a leadership role responsible for setting an ethical and technical example for direct reports and colleagues. Responsibilities: * Assumes full responsibility for coordinating the various phases of engagements, including staff requirements, visits to off-site work locations, client meetings, and job planning and scheduling * Plans the logistics of special assignments, including work to be performed by other offices * Evaluates internal controls used by clients * Prepares or reviews audit programs and time budgets for subsequent approval * Supports the training of other technical staff, possibly managing direct reports * Evaluates working papers and ensuring that engagements were performed in accordance with generally accepted standards * Creates relationship opportunities with clients and non-clients to expand our practice Requirements (with or without accommodations): * A bachelor's degree and CPA certification required with a minimum of eight years' of public accounting experience * Strong working knowledge of US GAAP * Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision * Fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form * Experience in a specialized area of audit including specialized certifications preferred Our Firms policy is to provide equal opportunity for employment to all individuals regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
