I: Job Summary
The postbac internship for recent college graduates is a great opportunity to engage in ground breaking research within the Vaccines Business Unit (Vax BU) at Emergent. You will work alongside seasoned scientists and program leads who strive to treatment viral and bacterial infections.
You will gain experience using multiple data searching and data analysis platforms as well as report writing, product development and program management. The intern will report for 8 hours per day for approximately 1 year. At completion, the intern provides a PowerPoint presentation and a written summary report.
Conduct research for the Vax BU (no laboratory work required). Assist in program management activities including drafting, revising and organizing project reports. Follow good documentation practices and maintain a database of reports.
Build or populate a database of chemical structures and interact/work closely with the scientists and program leads. Maintain progress during the internship toward the specific goals outlined for the intern. Adhere to Company safety guidelines and complete all required training.
III: Education, Experience & Skills
Candidate must have obtained a bachelor's degree in life sciences less than one year prior to the date they begin the internship. Should have taken classes in Biology, Chemistry and/or Engineering to be able to understand the science and keywords and carry out compound calculations.
Laboratory experience is a plus but is not required. Must have strong communication, organization, and record keeping skills. Understanding of drug development procedures and infectious diseases is a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Type/keyboard, visual acuity, good eye/hand coordination, stand, walk, sit, twist/turn, climb, reach outward, reach above shoulder, hand dexterity, bend, squat/kneel, sense of feel, sense of hearing, sense of smell, lift/carry 10 lbs., and pull 10 lbs. Use phone, fax, copier, and computer. Organize/coordinate, analyze/interpret, calibrate precise measurements, problem solve, make decisions, supervise, plan, communicate, and prepare written communications.
