Minimum Training & Experience
Must be enrolled as a student at a college or university and have completed at least 30 semester hours of course work.
Technical School (Lively)
Must be enrolled as a student at Lively Technical Center and have completed at least half of required course hours.
Necessary Special Requirements
At the time of application applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or above.
Salary Range
$12.8517 to $34.8742/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $17.3730/hour
Additional Information
Preference may be given to applicants currently majoring in Horticulture, Forestry, or Urban Forestry.
The candidate selected for the position will be trained to assist both the Urban Forestry Chief and Urban Forestry Technician to apply principals learned during their coursework to practical job applications in the arboricultural field. Selected candidate will be expected to work in the outdoors under significant environmental conditions such as high temperatures and humidity, storms, and other weather events.
The candidate selected will be instructed in tree risk detection and mitigation, collecting of data for a tree inventory, management of tree data for successful urban forestry management, tree removal and pruning techniques, safe operation of a chainsaw, ANSI Z133 safety manual familiarization, and selection of trees for replanting the urban forest.
