This position will enable the candidate to gain real-world experience by providing Test Plant support and working on projects. The candidate will be directed in their work by Test Plant Technicians, Process Engineers, and Test Plant Manager. Activities include testing of mineral samples, involvement in research and development projects, and testing methods development.


  • Conduct physical property tests on mineral samples.

  • Develop new methods and enhance current methods for physical property tests on minerals samples.

  • Liaise with associated academic departments to complete required testing and develop new methods

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate Test Plant equipment as necessary to ensure efficient and accurate operations.

  • Demonstrates dependability and punctuality

  • Observes safety regulations and exhibits a concern for safety.

  • Shows commitment to quality ethics and focuses on meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.

  • Manages time, skills and resources to produce maximum volume of work and reduction of errors.

  • Required to be working towards a BS or higher level Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Computer Science, Math, or closely related field of study.

  • Excellent communication skills required combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.


  • Computer skills are essential Excel, Word, PowerPoint. PLC programming, AutoCAD, Inventor and SolidWorks experience is a plus.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to accuracy and detail are essential.

  • Must be capable of effectively and accurately work on several projects at one time in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation aptitude.

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
