Include the following although other duties may be assigned:

  • Assists in developing, planning, organizing and analyzing of plans, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal standards.

  • Optimize Customer Service through actively managing the carrier base.

  • Ensure quality control procedures in Shipping/Receiving.

  • Help manage carrier performance including reporting and review processes to maintain and improve quality of service, cost and delivery performance.

  • Assists in reducing freight costs and budgets.

  • Assures high quality production and shipping of strawberries packed in drums and other containers.

  • Make sure drums and other containers are clean and properly labeled before shipping.

  • Conducts vehicle inspections to insure the cleanliness and safety of the trucks and railcars before loading and unloading.

  • Ensures that all shipments have the documented security seals before accepting an incoming load and sending off a loaded shipment.

  • Conducts pallet inspections; must reject load if does not meet specifications.

  • Ensures that all shipping paperwork is accurate and corresponds with handheld scanner results before shipping product.

  • Ensures that all instructions on the Bill of Ladings are carried out in each shipment.

  • Accurately checks all incoming raw materials and supplies before signing receiving slip.

  • Must ensure that all incoming ingredients are on the Approved Ingredient List and are appropriately labeled with Kosher emblems.

  • Cooperates with management and office personnel in accounting for production and shipments and helps take inventory as needed.

  • Ensures a safe working environment.

  • Investigates and documents accidents thoroughly and timely (as soon as possible on the same day it occurs.)

  • Prevents accidents by recognizing physical and behavioral hazards and taking corrective action.

  • Work closely with the Human Resources department in promoting safety and helps during safety meetings.

  • Assists the logistics team with shipping and receiving in an effective manner, in order to obtain or exceed cost expectations, without sacrificing quality or safety.

  • Coordinates shipping and receiving activities with floor personnel, quality control personnel and forklift drivers.

  • Makes sure shipments are accurate before loading onto trucks.

  • Makes suggestions to processing supervisors to improve efficiency.

  • Works closely with management, office, quality control, maintenance and hourly personnel to achieve goals.

  • Must follow OSHA required regulations when driving a forklift.

  • May have to load/unload trucks to keep the shipping schedules on time.

  • Work closely with truck drivers.

  • Assist in the development of railcar schedules and re-order point.

  • Must have constant communication with the carrier offices and the outside cold storage locations to ensure proper product rotation.



  • Currently have a 4-year degree or are enrolled in a 4-year degree program


  • Available in early April through the end of August.

  • Able to work weekends, overtime, and night shifts.

  • Excellent communication skills and leadership skills.

  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish highly desired.

Essential Functions Manages the materials function within the division considering manufacturing capacity, schedules workloads, recommends in house manufacturing vs. outsourcing, quality control and workforce balance. Establishes and maintains premier customer service. Leads all Supply Chain Management activities within the division. Negotiates long term contracts in coordination with group staff and policies. Responsible for continuous improvements programs with suppliers. Will establish and implement standard/automated delivery procedures for just in time supplier stocking items. Responsible for facilitation of the S&OP Process. Accountable for managing the division's overall strategic production planning practices taking into consideration short term/long term production requirements and integrating materials availability. Will establish and implement procedures for special order request, engineering changes and part substitutions, and sales market demand for products. Responsible for integrating the division with electronic interfaces throughout the supply chain. Manage the division's transportation logistics to ensure distribution of products direct to customers, or through distribution centers / warehouses are completed with optimum service at the most efficient cost. Represents the supply chain at the division level. Provides leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development. Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management. Major Duties Position will directly report to the general manager with additional accountability to the group supply chain manager. Will manage the complete material control process including procurement, production/inventory control, and transportation logistics. Will interact with all levels of division management including Operations, Sales, Engineering, Quality Control, Marketing and Finance. Will coordinate best practices with other division supply chain managers and the group supply chain manager. Key supplier and key customer contact essential. Direct reports will include division procurement manager, division PC&L manager, compliance manager, and logistics manager and supplier development engineer where applicable. This includes the S&OP Process to support the manufacturing / processing cycle, and ensuring timely logistical processing of product. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprise systems throughout the division supply chain. Qualifications 7-10 year's managerial experience in supply chain management. 4 year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred. Possesses analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand electronic data processing. Systems (IT) experience beneficial. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal, communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprise principles and practices. Practical experience in implementing lean technologies and practices. Excellent problem solving skills.
