HOW YOU WILL DO IT

OVERVIEW

The process engineering position at the site is to interface with the factory technical staff and with corporate engineering to define opportunities for standards development and cost savings. This role is typically focused on high complexity manufacturing processes and is key to the standardization and advancement of the processes in Plexus. This role is also responsible for solving high level customer/assembly specific problems in the manufacturing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead monitoring, auditing and reporting of site process through the use of metrics

  • Lead new and existing process development, implementation, and controls in support of Plexus and customer specific needs at the site

  • Lead implementation of user group standards across the site and support user group projects on specific processes as required

  • Mentor and train individual in various processes, required tools, and philosophies

  • Support DFx development on new and existing customer projects and request for quote's.

  • Lead assessments of new components for implementation into the manufacturing process

  • Support tool manufacturing/design through implementation of corporate standards

  • Support failure analysis

  • Support new customer product introductions

  • Lead cost reduction projects on specific projects

  • Support process qualifications and validations of both new and existing processes

  • Support quote activities by reviewing and ensuring all customer technology requirements are met

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering program for entire duration of internship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Junior level status

  • GPA: 3.0 or higher is preferred

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills

The individual in this role will support end to end process development ranging from early process definition up to project commercialization and process optimization. Activities are typically focused within our North American Personal Care facilities, but global support may be required. The incumbent reports to an R&E Senior Manager and receives direction in the form of specifically defined project objectives. Key customers include project team members, product supply, manufacturing plants, and engineering technical leadership. Dimensions: Vary widely with assignment and typically include: * Project responsibility of $1 MM to $10 MM * Project team of three to fifteen people * Single or multiple projects Responsibilities: 1. Provide process engineering leadership to a team of internal and external engineers and developers to establish equipment designs that deliver against process and product success criteria. Involvement spans from project inception through commercialization. 2. Provide creativity in the design, development, and optimization of Personal Care converting and manufacturing equipment and processes to meet business unit objectives. 3. Work closely with the product, material, and engineering leads to provide functional guidance in the design, development and/or optimization of converting equipment/processes to meet unit objectives. 4. Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective implementer of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management. 5. Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective subject matter expert in advanced process development. 6. Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. 7. Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel. 8. Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Qualifications/Education/Experience Required: 1. Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or similar. Note: Candidates with an associates degree with relevant engineering/scientific experience may also be considered. 2. Analytical skills to collect and assess data to support technical recommendations. 3. A demonstrated ability to lead self or small teams to achieve intended results. 4. Evidence of continuing self-development. 5. Ability to work within a team-based environment. Preferred Qualifications: Technical knowledge and experiences with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
