Position Profile

Position Summary

The Sourcing Intern is responsible for managing a sourcing project proposal and implementation plan that delivers competitive advantage and cost savings based on total cost of ownership. The position will collaborate with finance operations logistics quality and product departments while ensuring supplier compliance and business continuity. Person will utilize sourcing cost quality and service components providing overall savings.

Organizational Relationship

This position will report to the Director Supply Chain Compliance.

Accountabilities

  • Research Identify and recommend new sources in North America Asia Europe and South America.

  • Establish extensive knowledge base & indices in commodities through understanding of business requirements market trends and underlying cost factors.

  • Participate in cross-functional product teams to establish early new supplier involvement to achieve development performance goals support project timelines and manage product cost. Key responsibility includes both new and strategic supplier evaluation selections and qualifications.

  • Identify and recommend preferred suppliers while reducing total acquisition costs. Maximize leverage of spend strategy and reduce overall cost of acquisition.

Characteristics & Attributes

  • Strong customer service attitude and experience.

  • Sourcing and/or international business experience.

  • Results orientation ensuring work is completed on time on budget and within quality parameters.

  • Possess the knowledge and capability necessary to issue clear documentation for requests for proposals and / or requests for quote as necessary.

  • Expert in problem solving. Effective in the identification and resolution of issues concerns or problems using formal problem solving techniques.

  • Ability to perform financial analysis for cost savings initiatives.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle) is a plus.

Experience & Education

  • Pursuing BA or BS in Supply Chain Business Management or related field of study.
