This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on science writing experience in a fast-growing biotech company. As a Scientific Writing Intern, you will support the development of scientific manuscripts and nonclinical pharmacology reports. This is a unique chance for you to garner a breadth of experience across the drug discovery and early development spectrum while gaining valuable healthcare and biotechnology industry experience. The ideal candidate will be ready to roll up their sleeves and bring their passion for science and communicating into a fast-paced, innovative learning environment. This individual should bring energy every day and be eager to work collaboratively as we make hope a reality for patients with rare and orphan diseases.


  • Scientific writing: Coordinate content and write portions of manuscripts for publication in the area of drug discovery.

  • Regulatory writing: Contribute to content and formatting of nonclinical reports intended for regulatory submissions.

  • Literature searches: Research information using Quosa/Embase, Pubmed, and other databases as requested.

  • QC: Learn the process for ensuring a document is accurate and appropriately written and that all data and messaging align.

  • Exploring drug discovery: Meet the Birmingham team and spend time shadowing team members with different functions and learning about drug development discovery


  • Undergraduate student, rising junior or senior, biochemistry preferred, chemistry or biology related disciplines are also encouraged to apply, minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator

  • Self-starter who can work independently

  • Ability to be flexible and adjust quickly as priorities change

  • Team player who is willing to flex outside the prescribed role

  • Passionate about scientific communications and curious about drug discovery and rare diseases

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

  • Must be available to work 30-40 hours/week during the period of the summer internship

  • Must be able to report to the Birmingham, AL office.

In partnership with dedicated Field Engineers, you'll work hands-on analyzing scope and determining requirements, evaluate complex product and systems, and prepare customer-facing reports for critical UL projects.</p><p>Field Engineering Internship &quot;This is our normal&quot;</p><p>This summer, you could be:</p><ul><li><p>Performing safety and non-safety certification inspections in accordance with UL performance standards and requirements.</p></li><li><p>Interpreting and analyzing test results against UL requirements, verifying the accuracy of manufacturers' measuring equipment and reviewing production and inspection records.</p></li><li><p>Communicating with manufacturers and customers while promoting the benefits of new and existing services.</p></li><li><p>Providing technical assistance in several product categories and/or inspection methods.</p></li><li><p>Maintaining logs for scheduling inspections, time, and expenses.</p></li><li><p>Performing various calculations in multiple engineering areas such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or fire protection.</p></li></ul><p>What makes you a great fit:</p><ul><li><p>Students with expected graduation December 2023 or May 2024.
