The City of Brockton is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Services Liaison Intern within the Office of Immigration Affairs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the City government and the immigrant community, ensuring effective communication and access to essential City services.

Responsibilities:

Bilingual Communication: Facilitate effective communication between residents and City officials. Translate documents, correspondence, and information to ensure accurate understanding.

Community Outreach: Engage with immigrant community to understand their needs and concerns. Organize and participate in community events to promote City services and civic engagement.

City Services Coordination: Assist residents in navigating and accessing City services. Collaborate with various City departments to streamline service delivery to the immigrant community.

Civic Engagement: Encourage and promote civic engagement within the immigrant community. Provide information on local government processes, initiatives, and opportunities for involvement.

Data Management: Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest standards of privacy. Ensure the secure and responsible management of sensitive data related to community members.

Requirements:

Preferred Education and Experience: Enrolled in a political science, international relations or related undergraduate program.

Experience in community outreach, social work or a related field is a plus. Familiarity with immigration-related matters is desirable.

Fluent in Spanish or Haitian Creole.

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge or understanding of City government operations and services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team. Enthusiastic about working with and assisting the immigrant community. Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
