BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

MSC's internship program is a rewarding and challenging development program for talented, high performing students. Interns are assigned to a functional area for a 10-week assignment. Each assignment will offer the opportunity for the students to work on defined projects, develop leadership skills and interact with associates across all levels of the organization. This is a HYBIRD role.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gains industry knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.

  • Rotates in support of different sales compensation personnel, learns as well as observing and assisting associates currently performing Sales Compensation functions.

  • Gains industry knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments and may participate in various training programs.

  • Learns MSC's products, services, sales techniques, and culture.

  • Supports initial contact engagement and customer expansion through research, disruptive messaging, and customer contact (phone and email)

  • Develops sales compensation skills needed for career in industrial distribution/ or sales operations.

  • Supports assigned manager with business project work.

  • Presents intern project results to business leaders.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma required.

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university or technical trade school.

SKILLS:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software required.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management is required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.

  • Knowledge of general internet business research techniques is preferred. (Google, LinkedIn, etc…)

  • Knowledge of Challenger Sales Process is preferred.

  • Knowledge of machine tooling is preferred.

  • Positive, high-energy approach to assignments and a willingness to learn quickly required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

A valid driver's license may be required

This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ("ITAR") and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI").

Starting hourly pay - $20.00 per hour
