Overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to intern at a great organization this summer? Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield, CT is looking for several interns in a variety of disciplines to join their team to experience an environment enriched with collaboration and learning. The internship will include a strong on-boarding program, provide opportunities for professional growth with challenging assignments, an opportunity to give back to the community with a volunteer day, and will encourage interns to participate in a collaborative project with their intern peers.

Individuals that are motivated, and dependable seeking to work in a fast-paced environment, will be an ideal fit for Kamatics. The internship is intended for the summer months and will last approximately 10 to 12 weeks, working 40 hours a week Monday through Friday. Work hours may be flexible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete weekly and monthly tasks for the EHS department including EHS tips, Toolbox talks, Postings around the facility, Continuous improvement 6S events.

• Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization and work on numerous projects

• Ability to solve problems, make decisions and conduct Root Cause analysis

• Willingness to do research, take additional training courses and work independently to complete tasks

• Update Chemical Inventories for the Kamatics buildings.

• Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) including PPE assessments and Ventilation surveys.

• Support 3rd party industrial hygiene sampling and conduct sampling.

• Create and post lockout tagout procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of Sohpomore year of college courses completed toward Occupational Safety, Environmental engineering, Industrial engineering or other similar degree program

Experience:

• Entry level position. Related internships or co-ops are a plus.

• Proficient in MS Office

• 6 months office experience preferred

Physical Requirements: Lift up to 30 lbs, walk for distances including use of stairs, wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as required. Work with and around machinery, chemicals, heat, cold, and work at heights. Ability to work at ground level installing equipment as needed like ergonomic matting.
