POSITION OVERVIEW

This position supports their assigned department by performing project tasks allowing the intern to gain an understanding of assigned department functions and opportunities within the Health System. The intern will provide expertise in their area of study that aligns with the projects and tasks to be assigned to both build their skill set and to help with St. Charles initiatives.

NOTE: This is not a clinical internship -- there is no contact with patient care areas, patients, or laboratory work.

Pay rate: $19.13 per hour.

Benefits Eligible: No

Shift Details: M-F, business hours, 40 hours per week, June - August.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Participates and is involved in a variety of projects that support the needs of the department / facility. Works with the members of the team to identify solutions and perform tasks that accomplish individual and team goals.

Attends team / department meetings and actively participates / take on opportunities to share knowledge and skills that are pertinent to the meeting.

Gains knowledge of the department's / facilities functions. May job shadow various roles within the department in order to understand their role in the organization.

Works with other members of the department / facility to accomplish assigned tasks.

Project Assistance: May be assigned one or more specific projects during the internship.

Demonstrates an understanding of the process and accountability for the results / outcomes. Works independently or as a member of a team to accomplish the tasks necessary to successfully complete the project. Involves others when needed in a timely manner and work to meet project timelines.

May provide operational and/or administrative support to the department as needed.

Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.

Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.

Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continually (75% or more): Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.

Frequently (50%): Sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1-10 pounds, keyboard operation.

Occasionally (25%): Bending, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying/pushing, or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing.

Rarely (10%): Stooping/kneeling/crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 11-15 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle.

Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, ability to hear whispered speech level.
