R&D and Production Interns:

Basic Functions of Job:

Working with staff engineers and production to provide support to the facility within M Cubed for materials fabrication, materials characterization, product prototyping, production process and equipment maintenance. Activities are hands-on and could include the use of additive manufacturing equipment, powder mixing, powder processing equipment, furnaces, ovens, microscopes etc.. Computer skills will be utilized, including spreadsheets, statistical software and/or CAD software.

Education & Experience

Engineering or science student in good standing in field such as Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar.

  • Strong scientific and/or math background

  • Ability to generate and develop creative solutions to problems

  • Keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills

  • Ability to achieve results independently or working in a team

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Willingness to work with your hands

Skills

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and equipment

  • Experience with metal and/or ceramics processing

  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

Working Conditions

  • Office and Shop floor

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs.

  • Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.

  • Walk of uneven and slippery surfaces

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
