UCT is looking for a talented Intern Manufacturing Engineer to join us in Hayward, CA!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Requires a broad knowledge of Manufacturing Practices, Assembly Prints, Bill of Materials to be able to create Manufacturing ready documentation such as S.O.E.'s (Sequence of Events) and Assembly Process Workflow.

• Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.

• Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the Manufacturing Engineer portion of the system build.

• Prepares and/or modifies work instructions, BOM structures, and training curriculum.

• Ensures proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.

• Requires contact with Customers, vendor representatives. Attends and participates in Customer meetings.

• Confers with engineers, technicians, customers, and others to discuss best practices in an effort to streamline build processes and procedures.

• Inspects completed systems; partners with Manufacturing and Quality organizations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.

• Supports project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.

• Investigates customer or internal issues determines the nature and extent of the problem and recommends corrective actions.

• Assists in cost estimations and development of capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.

• Evaluates and process Engineering Change Orders.

• Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Lean Manufacturing Principles, Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred.

• Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment.

• Knowledge of electronic Work Instruction software is a plus (i.e., Sequence).

• ERP System Software

• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, emphasis in Excel.

• Prior experience leading small teams to achieve project success.

• Good interpersonal skills: ability to work alone or in a team environment.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

• Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field preferred with 2 years of experience in related manufacturing/ production position; or

• Associate of Arts (AA) in a technical field with more than 5 years of manufacturing experience.

Experience Requirement:

• Work Experience: 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.

• Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $20.18 and $26.83/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
