The Engineering Data Science group at Altair oversees the research and application of machine learning techniques that we feel have the greatest potential to augment traditional CAE. This cross-disciplinary field requires a diverse and motivated team and provides an exciting window into the future of how products are made
Our team is looking for a skilled and motivated intern to join us for the summer. As an intern in the Engineering Data Science group, you would be responsible for overseeing one or more cross-disciplinary projects involving machine learning and physics-based modeling.
Depending on the applicant's areas of study this project may lie in the fields of computational structural mechanics, fluid dynamics (CFD), or electromagnetics. Such a project require that you work closely with both solver teams and data scientists at Altair in order to generate data and train models. It will also require that you give presentations to our team and to senior leadership about how the techniques you develop will improve a certain aspect of CAE.
Applicants should be familiar with physics-based modeling and ideally would have experience with a commercial code (including but not limited to OptiStruct, Radioss, AcuSolve, FEKO, Ansys, Abaqus, Nastran). Applicants should also be comfortable with basic machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, autoencoders, and convolutional neural networks. Strong teamwork skills are a necessity when working with multiple departments and fields of research.
You should be pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field, or have recently completed such a degree. Proficiency in Python and is a plus. Proficiency in CAD modeling is also a plus.
