Position Overview

The Autodesk Fusion 360 Machine Learning team is looking for a driven and naturally curious machine learning research engineer who can hit the ground running in a fast paced, complex environment. We are a small, agile research team that are intensely curious and passionate about the impact of artificial intelligence on the product design and manufacturing industry. You will join us to develop AI technologies for our next generation of design and manufacturing platform. Past projects include similarity search for 3D geometries, part classification, and expediting simulation results using 3D Deep Learning built on the AWS platform.

We work closely with the researchers in Autodesk Research especially the Autodesk AI Lab, whom utilize cutting edge machine learning techniques to build future technologies to help our customers design, simulate and physically create the world around us.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and process large batches of unique and varied data (3D geometry, 2D drawings, simulation output, and design workflow data)

  • Verify, Deploy, and monitor trained machine learning models

  • Build new pipelines for efficient data processing and verifying data quality

  • Collaborate with other engineers and researchers in developing ML algorithms

  • Analyze the errors of the model and design strategies to overcome them

  • Research, implement and document best practices for scaling our ML operations

  • Develop working prototypes to showcase and validate your solution

  • Present progress to stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Students must be at least 18 years of age

  • Student must be actively enrolled in a degree granting academic institution or accredited boot camp at the time of internship

  • Students must reside and be attending university in the country where the internship is being offered

  • A mix of previous internship, school project, volunteer and leadership experience is also important

  • Full-time student pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent

  • Proficient in Python (and basic libraries for ML), C++, Go, or NodeJS

  • Interest in cloud data processing, training, deployment, or operations (e.g. AWS, GCP)

  • Great understanding of fundamental CS algorithms and their scaling behaviors in data structures, algorithms, and software design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying machine learning models (or comparable black boxes)

  • Proficient in deep learning frame works such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

  • Knowledge of the design and manufacturing industry

  • Knowledge of DevOps Frameworks such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansibl

  • Experience with Autodesk or competitive products (CAD, CAE, CAM, etc.)

About the US Intern Program

The U.S. program runs from May through August for 12 weeks and will be remote (subject to change). All internships are paid. Interns have the opportunity to work alongside peers from universities all over the country and participate in intern events such as TED talks, mentoring, fun events, and more.
