Spire is seeking an Internal Audit Intern to work in the Missouri East operation. This position will be responsible for assisting in objective and independent evaluation of risks, assessing the internal control environment and recommending improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to rotate between various accounting and finance assignments to potentially include:

  • Financial and/or Operational Audits

  • Information Technology Audits

  • Compliance & Continuous Auditing/Monitoring

  • Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Assist with performance of internal audits and special projects under the direction of the Audit Manager

  • Document audit work performed while adhering to departmental and professional work paper standards

  • Utilize effective communication skills to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and team members at various level

  • Assist with the generation of standard and non-standard reports

  • Researches outstanding items/issues.

  • Accountable for quality, accuracy and planning of own work is crucial

  • Opportunity to travel to various business locations

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education: (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and will be a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in the Fall of 2019

  • Current major in Accounting or Finance or Business

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

Required knowledge, skill and abilities:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Understanding of basic accounting theory and principles

  • Understanding of basic finance and Generally Accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills

  • Time management and planning

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Physical demands, work environment and work schedule:

  • Normal Work Environment Work is normally performed in a shared office environment.

  • Typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Overtime and/or travel may be required.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

We are looking for a Director to assist in directing, planning, and providing oversight for our internal audit and compliance outsourcing practice. The position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth within a FIG practice that has a strong reputation within our local markets for excellent technical expertise and a commitment to client service. The Director—Compliance & Internal Audit Services will be responsible for: * Working with clients and other FIG staff to determine engagement/relationship objectives, develop appropriate budgets and assist in coordinating resources to meet the objectives * Developing an understanding of the client's business activities, controls, processes and associated risks * Coordinating the development of risk assessments, audit plans and scopes for internal audit and compliance engagements * Assisting with proposals for new business opportunities in the areas of internal audit, compliance, training and related special projects * Coordinating the timely completion of fieldwork * Preparing and / or reviewing internal audit and compliance reports * Providing oversight/review of assigned audit staff members * Working with other Managers and Directors and clients to address audit, accounting and compliance issues that may arise * Keeping abreast of the latest banking industry, accounting and compliance developments through ongoing formal and self education * Providing ongoing technical assistance support to clients * Anticipating and addressing client issues * Assisting in the oversight and completion of other engagements/special projects or duties as assigned The firm seeks qualified candidates with the personal values and work ethic that matches the professional character of our firm.
