JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Intermodal Operations team in market planning, carrier management, equipment positioning & distribution, and other projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develop strong professional relationships with vendors and assist them in all operational aspects
Communicate effectively with vendors, internal Hub departments, and other Hub offices
Work with carriers and Account Management to ensure on time performance of customer shipments, providing solutions to resolve problems as needed
Manage the movement and distribution of available containers within the network
Develop and execute equipment repositioning plans, and equipment utilization goals
Review Hub Group's system utilizing GPS and reporting, resolving discrepancies as needed
Utilize reporting tools to review trends and forecasts to plan and ensure fluid operations within the market / network
Work collaboratively with team members to meet and exceed assigned metrics and goals
Manage the execution of projects as assigned
Must be a self-starter, and have the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of the Hub organization, its customers and carriers in a manner that consistently produces results
Knowledge of various Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel and Word
Customer Service / Operations experience preferred but not required
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Experience in the transportation industry is preferred but not required
Enrolled in a transportation, logistics, or supply chain undergraduate degree program for the duration of the internship
This position is aschool year internship starting in September 2018 and ending in May 2019. Allapplicants must be able to work 20 hours a week. Hub Group is flexible on hoursand days per school schedules.
