RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Support injection molding process control and capability using scientific molding principles.
2.Support implementation of RJG Scientific/Decoupled Molding processes.
3.Assist with molding improvements to include cycle time efficiencies, cavitation, scrap reduction, and establishment of optimal processing parameters.
4.Provide technical support for new tooling qualifications and process capability studies.
5.Support process improvement, cost reduction, and corrective action teams.
6.Provide technical support for daily processing activities.
7.Assist in the set-up, repair, and troubleshooting of Injection Molding equipment.
8.Support Company Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals
9.Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.2+ years of college coursework in Engineering or Plastics Technology or a combination of technical college coursework and 3+ years of injection molding processing experience
2.Knowledge and application of scientific molding principals.
3.Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
4.Knowledge of automation, robots, and vision systems.
5.Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
6.Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced production environment.
7.Capable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 50 pounds periodically).
8.Capable of visual acuity to include distinguishing color variation and detecting defects.
9.Able to work safely in a production environment around moving mechanical parts, recognizing various sounds and alarms.

Please use our Internal Careers Site, using the Internal Human Resource pages.* Come Build Your Career Under OUR Roof Job Description: The GAF Baltimore Plant is looking for a Process Engineer who will have dual responsibility for managing process improvement and capital improvement projects using standard process improvement tools, adherence to company safety policies, and implementation of sound management practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Assist with leading the execution of Quality and Process Improvement projects and activities, using standard PI tools such as Qualpro, MVT/DOE, Kepner Tregoe PSDM. Use the Hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost) to prioritize. Plan and execute capital improvements resulting from these projects. * Manage the application and interpretation of SPC control charting and raw material utilization. * Manage the process design review, product and process qualification, and capability studies. Perform PPA on all major process and raw material changes * Coordinate Plant Trials with R&D and plant personnel. Ensure trials are accurately conducted, reported, and within budget. * Conduct internal compliance audits of production tests, process specifications, and other in-plant processes. Interface with Maintenance and Production to ascertain and identify operating and maintenance problems. * Provide production line support focusing on the machines, materials, and production employees. Provide support to maintenance, and environmental engineering. * Participate on problem solving teams and project teams as a technical resource geared towards improving the performance of existing processes and raw material handling systems. Conduct engineering analysis (FMEA) and follow through with minor project recommendations. * Coordinate between contractor and company to accomplish engineering projects. Prepare capital expenditure requests. * Manage project budgets and prepare cost estimates at the start of projects and every time there is a change that impacts the overall project cost. * Maintain thorough engineering standards for project execution, design, equipment standards, safety, and cost control. * Perform other duties as assigned Technical knowledge/skills * Basic ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings * Intermediate proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems * Intermediate ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for personnel * Intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management * Proficient in Microsoft Office * Basic understanding of PLCs * Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) * Intermediate knowledge of engineering fundamentals * Familiar with standard Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures Education/Experience * Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering * A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated related experience in a manufacturing environment.
