Job Role:

The Endpoint and AV Engineer works on a team that is distributed across the US in several of VMware's remote sites. They report up through the CIO organization. The Endpoint team is proud of our dedication to delightful customer service and strives to improve our colleague experience in an ever-changing enterprise environment. We also advocate crafting a mentorship with other team members to share lessons learned and IT knowledge.

You will be responsible for providing Tier 1 troubleshooting and ongoing operational support including operating systems releases, upgrades, service pack installations, bug fixes, security updates, and any system change activities for all local AV and end user equipment.

In addition, you will build new endpoint systems (laptop and desktop), support smartphone configuration and synchronization, assist other IT teams (networking, telecom, client engineering) with local projects and tasks, and supporting AV equipment in the onsite conference rooms.

As an Endpoint and AV Engineer, you will provide support in person, over the phone, or via email in a timely and accurate fashion and consistently log all work completed in our ticketing system. You will also communicate consistently with your peers on the team, management, and with the colleagues you assist.

Required Skills:

  • Have a proven aptitude to successfully work as part of a team.

  • Implement and follow departmental policies and procedures.

  • Experience using the Microsoft Suite of office products (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Basic understanding of video conferencing solutions

  • Excellent written and oral communication.

  • Working knowledge of Sales related applications (Siebel CRM, Sales Force) is a plus.

  • ITIL foundation certification is a benefit.

Education:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed and maintained basic industry certifications (COMPTIA A+, etc.) and/or Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, VCP).

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous internship experience is a plus

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

The successful candidate will bring strong business domain knowledge and understanding as well as deep technical skills to introduce emerging technologies such as ML, IoT, containerization, micro-services and big data analytics. This combination of skills and experience enables the creation and execution against product roadmaps that deliver measurable business benefits to the Intermodal Terminal Operations' domain. This position is responsible for harmonizing the technology teams towards successful project delivery throughout the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Essential Job Functions: * Work closely with assigned business groups to develop product roadmaps aligned with IT strategies and emerging technology trends in the targeted business domain * Articulate and gain consensus to the product roadmap across several IT and business stakeholders and safeguards roadmap execution from tactical deviations * Ensures new and existing systems functional requirements are in alignment with the envisioned roadmap * Coordination with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security and other IT development & infrastructure groups to ensure we are aligned with NS IT strategy * Govern technology teams compliance to enterprise development standards and architectural guidelines * Assess and review hardware or software designs to ensure requirements are being met and safeguards soundness of the technical solution * Critically review development plans for practicality and viability and control development scope to meet project budget and timeline goals * Ensure good software quality assurance during all phases of the development cycle * Support recruiting right talent, provide technical leadership, identify and act on opportunities for team training and skills development * Formulate and implement initiatives to improve quality and productivity of software development and support teams * Prepare and share regular technical / roadmap status updates with senior management staff * Govern requirements and design efforts using the following o Use Cases o Activity Diagrams o Domain Models Education, Skills & Experience Education: Required: Master's Degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science Skills Required: * Strong solution visioning, business process analysis, design thinking, product management, technical architecture and systems development skills * Experience in application development, integrating disparate enterprise systems, support or technical infrastructure operations * Proven problem solving, project management, quality control and planning skills * Proficient in the development and maintenance of project plans (MS Project) and other productivity and communications tools (Office) * Experience in systems integration with both internal and external B2B interfaces as well as in working with vendors * Experience in building and deploying large scale Enterprise applications using J2EE and Enterprise Service Bus based design, development, implementation & support of large scale critical software products, projects with object oriented design and implementing design by proven design patterns: o Modelling different business domains, dependencies, and relationships o UML representation of the component design o Entity relationship * Experience in analyzing situation errors, tasking, take action and verify results * Excellent documentation, software governance, communication & interpersonal skills Experience Required: * Experience in leading medium to large sized teams and/or complex programs * Demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively * Experience in working in a cross-functional team setting to drive strategic initiatives to timely, cost-effective and successful completion * Master's degree in computer science, engineering, physics or mathematics is preferred Work Conditions Environment: Office Shift Work: No On-Call: Yes Weekend Work: Yes Travel Required: 0 - 2 Days per Month Company Overview Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC) is one of the nation's premier transportation companies.
