Hardware Engineering is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's self-driving systems, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction.

In this internship, you'll:

  • Perform Schematic Design

  • Testing and validation of electronic boards

  • Work with a PCB designer and experienced EE

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • BSEE

  • Strong knowledge of electronics design, power or micro-controllers

  • Taken courses in circuit designs

  • Hands-on experience with electronics

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience with embedded software programming

  • Masters or higher

You will also be responsible for the development of talent within your group to ensure that a robust pipeline of skilled engineers and leaders is available to meet the expected growth of the organization and the business. Preferred qualifications: * Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. * Experience with factory process and manufacturing. * Track record of ideation and innovating great products across many different product lines, while motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose. * Ability to be an action-oriented leader who drives results. * Ability to drive ownership and commitment toward success with teams and peers. * Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. * Deliver excellent consumer devices addressing a broad spectrum of uses, features, and price points, adapting to an ever-changing technology landscape. * Ensure that the end-user experience, technologies, and components in Google's consumer products are of the highest quality and delivered on-time to meet stringent, and often inflexible, market timelines. * Drive excellence in system and electrical engineering, and rigor to continually improve design processes. * Grow and develop a high performing team, while actively participating in the Nest Engineering Leadership team with peers leading our other hardware product engineering organizations.
