If you're currently a student at San Joaquin Delta college or University of the Pacific who is reliable, punctual and proactive looking to gain experience in local government, consider our part time opportunity to make a difference! This internship will allow potential candidates to be apart of a positive team environment working towards a common goal serving the residents of Manteca.
Potential candidates should be eager to work and learn about the many facets of local government including Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Engineering, Public Safety and Public Works.
Interns from this recruitment will be assigned to the Wastewater Department with flexible hours not to exceed 28 hours per week or 980 hours per fiscal year. This recruitment will also be used to fill other seasonal internships within the City.
Example of Duties
Example of Duties:
Perform a variety of general administrative duties including writing reports and correspondence; maintaining files, records, and supplies; retrieval and re-filing of records;
Proofread a variety of documents, verifying accuracy, researching discrepancies, and recording information;
Research, process, and prepare reports and council agenda items;
Attend and participate in various meetings and events;
Correspond with City departments, community groups, and citizens;
Assist with and prepare for events, committee meetings, and special projects;
Assist in preparing presentation materials; and
Perform related duties as assigned.
Ability to:
Maintain accurate records and files.
Communicate clearly and concisely.
Follow both written and verbal instruction.
Work independently or in a team environment.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Operate standard office equipment.
Abide by safety procedures.
Typical Qualifications
Supplemental Information:
Candidates must be current students of either San Joaquin Delta college or University of the Pacific.
A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: One year of paid or unpaid experience in the public sector is desirable.
Education: High school graduation or equivalent with current enrollment or recent completion of a degree program. Enrollment in graduate school is highly desirable.
Licenses: Valid California Drivers license
