The goal of the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), Twentieth Judicial Circuit Internship program is to provide opportunities that will equip students with practical, real-world work experience to help them transition into a future professional career. The program is designed to attract, develop, and retain our interns in local government.

Interns may perform work that is directly related to their academic field or in an area of study in which they have an interest. Students participating in this program will gain:

  1. Career-related knowledge and experience,

  2. Knowledge of job related employment and training,

  3. Hands-on training,

  4. Exposure to new and emerging work trends and professions,

  5. Opportunity to explore new careers during academic studies, and

  6. Academic credit (based upon college or university authorization).


Supplemental Information

  • Who is eligible for an internship?

College students enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program. Interns must demonstrate student status for the duration of internship. Interns must authorize a criminal background check in the form of an NCIC/FCIC and must not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement.

  • How long is an internship?

Typically an internship occurs during the summer months: June, July, August; however, it may be during any time of the year or coincide with a school's period of study, such as a semester.

  • Salaries?

The Administrative Office of the Courts does not have any funds to support paying internships; therefore, all internships are unpaid unless payment is obtained through the supporting school.

  • How many hours can interns work?

The interns may work up to 40-hours per week. Schedule will be set on an individual basis based upon the department and intern availability and needs.

  • Academic credit?

Students seeking academic credit for their internship must check with their respective school for requirements. If credit is desired, the AOC will make a reasonable effort to assist students in meeting the school requirements.

  • Availability?

Internship availability fluctuates based upon several factors, including but not limited to the following resources: work space, equipment, and supervisory staff availability.

  • Criminal background check

Any candidate that is selected will be required to successfully complete a fingerprint background check. These are volunteer opportunities. There will be no salary or stipend offered.
