Job Summary:
The Design Engineer Intern's primary responsibility is to assist in the develop and design of production equipment that utilizes error proofing techniques to meet all internal and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the develop and design tooling, fixturing and test systems for wire harnesses that incorporate error proofing concepts using SolidWorks.
Ensure designs adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
Generate detailed machining and assembly prints.
Assist in coordinating equipment manufacture and builds with internal team and external sources.
Hands on debugging of equipment design.
Assist in supporting day to day operations of a production floor focused on assembly processes and troubleshooting equipment issues.
Interact with global manufacturing and engineering teams to develop modifications to equipment.
Manage equipment CAD data and facilitate engineering changes through program life.

Walking, sitting and standing for long periods of time
The position may assist in wire harness and or associated equipment assembly from time to time as needed which may require using tools and lifting equipment in excess of 40 pounds.
Skills and Abilities Required
Basic knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD and PDM software or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of machine design techniques and manufacturing processes.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and troubleshoot/problem solve effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.
Self -starter and team player.
Willingness to do what it takes to meet customer expectations.
Use of Microsoft Office programs, skilled at use of Excel.
