The Data Analyst
Community Engagement Intern reports directly to the Coordinator, Community Engagement
Special Projects and will also work directly with the Manager of Service Analysis, Strategic Planning & Development. This position is responsible for supporting technical database management, maintenance and data analysis for the Try Transit Program, a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) offering of Capital Metro. Assist in gathering data set, updating surveying tools and generating reports about program efficacy.
Perform database management functions tracking the efficacy of TDM programs.
Develop, review, and analyze existing survey tools.
Create, automate and generate database and management reports from farebox, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and other departmental and agency-wide databases.
Analyze data for accuracy and integrity. Determine where inaccuracies or exceptions require rejection and/or re-collection of data, and reschedule collections and/or corrective actions.
Perform data extraction and run scripts as needed.
Assist in developing and designing TDM program databases.
Evaluate program data and generate reports, graphs, forecasts, and trend analysis to assist in planning endeavors.
Provide administrative and technical support to the Community Engagement and Strategic Planning departments, as needed.
Review data collection/input procedures, identify validity issues, and recommend solutions to ensure integrity of data. Confer with persons originating, handling, entering or receiving data to identify problems and resolve issues and/or errors prior to advancing to specified departments.
Respond to requests for relevant planning or service data, as needed, for internal and customers, including user interviews, assessment of needs, and recommendation of solutions.
Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Statistics, Urban Planning or related field.
Experience using statistical software package or database software, such as Excel, SAAS, SQL and/or SPSS for advanced statistical analysis.
Experience using word processing and presentation software.
Experience using email newsletter and event registration websites.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Self-starter, inquisitive, and able to work independently leveraging guidance as needed
Proficient knowledge of statistical processes.
Ability to interact efficiently and effectively with other team members or departments.
Ability to utilize database software at an advanced level.
Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and to coordinate a variety of projects.
Ability to interact efficiently and effectively with team members and other department personnel.
