Pay
This position is an hourly position at pay grade 103.
Attendance
Non-rotating 20-hour work week, Monday - Friday; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
Interns will be given special assignments depending upon their special interest and skills that will expand their educational learning. They will have a mentor among the staff who supervises the special assignments and gain real-life work experience that complements their education.
Responsibilities
Assist engineers and project manager in engineering planning, design, and construction support
Provide support to department goals and objectives by coordinating special projects
Research design specifications for inclusion in the project
With supervision, create and interpret maps, plats, construction drawings, and plans for use both internally within the Department and to assist in supporting construction of public works projects
Assist Engineers and other staff members perform field/site investigations to determine applicable requirements
Assist in the preparation of bid documents for the public works projects and the dissemination of the bid packet to prospective contractors
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requires a minimum of two (2) years of college and applicants must be currently enrolled. Applicants must have successful completion with a minimum grade of "C" within the twelve (12) month period of the date of application to the City's Student Intern Program.
Applicants must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in the Engineering field.
A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
Closing Statement
Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.
Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
