Intern, Application Software Development

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop an Internal Web Application Tool: Design and implement a web-based tool that enables the creation of requirements documents using a typical distributed systems architecture. This tool will feature user input capabilities including dropdowns for selecting features and text input fields. The tool will generate a Word-based document from the inputs provided.

• Improve Existing Web Application Tool: Enhance the functionality of an existing web application that facilitates interactions with a shared drive. This involves understanding the current system's architecture and making necessary improvements to enhance usability and efficiency.

• Web Application Tool Development with Python Backend: Utilize existing Python scripts to create a web application tool that deploys binary output files. This involves integrating Python scripts with a frontend to provide a seamless user experience for deploying binary files.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Previous internship or project experience in web development or software development is a plus.

Skills

• Programming: Proficiency in C# ASP.NET Core for developing web applications.

• Deployment: Experience in deploying web applications and familiarity with web server setup and deployment processes.

• Python Programming: Skilled in using Python, especially in the context of backend development.

• Database Knowledge: Understanding of database management systems and the ability to interact with databases through applications.

• API Development: Experience with developing and integrating APIs for web applications.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to tackle challenges and come up with effective solutions in the development process.

• Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions

• The internship will involve working on software development projects with a focus on web application development.
