These internships will be focused on product security and secure software development . Chosen individuals will be assigned to the R&D Security team,and work with the Hyland staff with the execution of departmental goals and mission by fulfilling a wide variety of tasks.


  • Utilize department specific software and tools to complete assignments and tasks

  • Participate in team meetings

  • Liaise with other areas to resolve information or project requests by department staff

  • Compile and analyze information and develop reports, proposals, or documents

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records on all projects assigned

  • Engage with peers and team members to obtain knowledge to complete projects

  • Complete all assignments as directed

  • Follow all current standards utilized by your team


  • Currently enrolled in an educational institution

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products

  • Attentive to department needs as demonstrated by rapid and high-quality responsiveness to requests

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Capable of identifying and completing tasks independently, with a sense of urgency and ownership

  • Demonstrated success at maintaining high personal work standards

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and tact

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the position.

Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include: outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In addition, Operator interns will assist personnel to perform various duties required to keep their assigned processing unit/area operating safely and at specified production/run rates. Responsibilities May Include * Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety * Assist operators in maintaining equipment and operations * Assist operators while taking samples/readings of various process streams * Monitoring and observing assigned area for abnormal conditions and emergency situations * Participating in safety reviews * Upholding company values, understanding and implementing all relevant company policies and procedures to ensure all work meets the required standard Position Requirements Basic/Required: * Legally authorized to work in the job posting country * Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at * Must have a valid driver's license * High School Diploma or GED equivalent * Must be in the last semester or a recent graduate of Process Technology from an accredited school * Must be willing and able to read technical procedures and materials in English * Must be willing and able to work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos * Must be willing and able to work near large, hot, high speed machines * Must be willing and able to work near products that are under high pressure and heat * Must be willing and able to work around chemicals, including acids and bases * Must be willing and able to wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection) * Must be willing and able to maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven) * Must be willing and able to climb up to 200 feet in height * Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds * Must be willing and able to work outside in harsh weather conditions * Must be willing and able to learn computer software associated with process operations The Lake Charles Refinery is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed in the southeastern and eastern United States by truck, rail car, barge or pipelines and exported to Latin America and West Africa.
