The Intermediate Software Engineer will report to Sr. Manager

  • Corporate Systems and will be part of the team that is responsible for application development that focuses on building and configuring software solutions leveraging Hyperion products. This entails:(1) strategizing, roadmap planning, selecting, architecting/designing, building and implementing technology solutions to solve complex business problems. (2) portfolio management for entire business applications suite (3) actively managing the on-going health and supportability of the portfolio in alignment with IT Ops & Support, (4) partnering with other IT and business teams to deliver end to end technology solutions for JCPenney. The team provides IT solutions to JCP corporate finance, accounting, procurement and back office shared services business clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in all phases of the software development lifecycle to design, build, test and deliver technical solutions for small to large complexity efforts in the Hyperion portfolio to achieve the business objectives and goals.

  • Manage non-production environments, applications, integrations, data needs for various development projects and infrastructure changes. Ensure alignment of cross-portfolio dependencies to facilitate multiple concurrent projects.

  • Act as IT technical subject matter expert for Hyperion portfolio. Own and maintain relationships with business partners, vendors and technical groups to provide support and escalations for the technical incidents.

  • Assist with escalated production support activities. Leads team to drive resolution and process improvements to further minimize impact to our production environment and support business partners.

  • Able to explain technical issues to the business or IT leadership in non-technical, understandable terms.

Core Skills & Experiences:

  • 5+ years of technical and functional experience as a Software Engineer/Developer following structured development methodologies on multiple medium to complex projects.

  • Experience in creating and maintaining Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Mgmt (HFM) application and Essbase cubes using EPMA, Calc Manager, and FDMEE.

  • Experience with data loading including FDMEE, SQL load rules, and data synchronization.

  • Proficient in metadata maintenance processes using EPMA import profiles from relational and flat sources.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Smart View.

  • Skilled in Unix Scripting and/or PERL Scripting.

  • Familiarity with data integrations using Informatica a plus.

  • Ability to manage user security roles and access to members, forms, and business rules.

  • Understanding of complex of Chart of Accounts (COA) with multiple dimensions.

  • Ability to create and update existing calc scripts, business rules, web forms, and reports.

  • Understanding of finance business processes including budget creation, forecasting, and actualization of budgets and forecasts.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
