Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to work in our Interiors group based out of our Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The Interior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing different supplier locations and parts to ensure high quality products are produced and transported to FCA's Assembly Plants. The Engineer will provide on-site launch support at suppliers' facilities to ensure launch readiness as required, leading up to and including program launch. They will also be responsible for managing post launch continuous improvement activities and provide on-site support at FCA assembly plants as required. The Engineer will also be responsible for working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected. Typical parts may include any of the following: interior trim, cockpit, seats, HVAC, structures, and restraints. Within our Supplier Quality Engineering roles, we ask that our engineer's drive change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve complex component issues. It is the engineer's responsibility to ensure component suppliers' processes are robust and capable in order to stay on track and manage key component quality milestones. Overall, the engineer will lead all problem-solving activities with internal and external organizations, manage warranty with their suppliers, and ensure best practices/ lessons learned are applied across the several different vehicle programs.

Typical job responsibilities for an Interior Supplier Quality Engineer may include any of the following:

  • Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead Supplier Improvement/Development Programs

  • Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities

  • Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site

  • Participation in launch teams, lead and coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables for purchased components within the supplier quality group

  • Assist in educating suppliers on FCA systems and requirements

  • Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled

  • Work with Engineering and Supplier Organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. A bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Materials, Metallurgical, or Mechatronics may also be considered.

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience, including relevant internships, in Supplier Quality, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field

  • Ability to travel up to 40% within the NAFTA region

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a Master's in Business Administration

  • GPA of 3.0 or above

  • 4+ years of work experience in Supplier Quality, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field

  • Green Belt or Black Belt skills (Red X/Shainin)

  • Quality certification

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team

  • Creative problem solving ability and a results orientation

  • Comfortable with complex technical analysis

The Senior Supplier Quality/Operations Engineer is responsible for directing and supervising activities related to the planning and managing all activities related to the successful industrialization and full production launch of purchased electrical/electronic and vehicle electrification/advanced propulsion components from inception to execution. The responsibilities include management of all critical disciplines within FCA and our supplier partner network to ensure that all launch and production deliverables are met in a collaborative environment. Essential responsibilities include but not limited to: * Lead evaluation of new suppliers and manufacturing technologies * Manage new supplier integration to FCA system and requirements * Facilitate supplier process production/industrialization implementation * Review and approve supplier partner process controls and quality gates to ensure world-class quality * Utilize structured problem solving approach (Reactive Black Belt, Six Sigma and other), World Class Manufacturing and Lean Production techniques to address part quality and capacity concerns * Provide leadership and guidance to address any launch related issues at various FCA facilities * Proactively manage sub-tier readiness for various components including: semi-conductors, printed circuit board, printed circuit board assemblies, sensors and various mechanical devices Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (accreditation will be reviewed); Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Materials, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechatronics and other related degrees will also be considered based on practical experience * On-the-job experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality or other interdisciplinary fields related to the production of electrical, electronics, electrochemical and electromechanical devices * Ability to travel globally an up to 40% * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite software * Experience with new emerging automotive technologies such as: * Autonomous vehicle systems and components * Power electronics for hybrid and electric vehicle systems * High voltage battery systems (Li-ion) and components * Electric drive and other types of motors * Hybrid and electric vehicle charging systems Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Engineering or related field * Quality Certification * Program management certification * Shainin/Six Sigma Black Belt * Experience with printed circuit board and board assembly, electrical systems, and electrical component assembly, ESD best practices * Experience with electronics interconnections including harnesses, cables and connectors * Experience with functional and end of line tests and testers * Experience with Mini-Tab, Stat Graphics and other statistical problem solving tools * Strong project management abilities * Experience and ability to mentor and guide outside organization * Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills * Ability to interact with all levels of FCA and supplier partner management Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
