This role has a solid design foundation with several years of experience in working with clients on detail driven projects. The Designer will have a grasp of the nuances and specific skillsets found in workplace design and contract furniture and be comfortable applying them to their produced designs.

About the Role

You will provide us with:

  • Excellent needs analysis & consultative leadership skills that ascertain client requirements

  • Clear understanding and articulation of project scope, deliverables, and timelines required

  • Robust furniture application & interiors product knowledge

  • Ability to educate clients on current workplace trends, colors and use of finishes

  • Ability to develop and effectively present concepts and ideas that address the work flow, user needs, brand identity and mood of the work space.

  • Development of space studies, block plans, and furniture typicals

  • Ability to coordinate and develop necessary working documents that transform concept into a refined, polished product

  • Laser focused dedication to both teamwork and client service


What's Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree/Associate's Degree in Interior Design or Architecture

  • 4 - 6 years industry experience (may be a combination of education and work experience in design and furniture industry).

  • Must have thorough knowledge of contract furniture, prior interior design experience with a contract furniture dealer strongly preferred

  • Specific functional knowledge of the principles and theories of interior design profession

  • Proficiency in AutoCad 2014 and either CAP 20/20 or CET Designer

Accountabilities/Responsibilities LEAD ENGINEER IN CAB LIVING – SUPPORTS DESIGN AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR VARIOUS COMPLEX COMPONENTS AND/OR SYSTEMS WITHIN THE CAB INTERIOR LIVING ENVIRONMENT * Life cycle responsibility for various complex Cab Living (Interior) components or systems - responsibilities include concept development, detailed engineering design, post-production maintenance and all engineering administration * TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP - you will be responsible for the cross functional coordination of interests with counterparts in other departments – stakeholders include Purchasing, Product Design, Aftermarket/Parts/Service, Manufacturing and Quality - you will lead this team of stakeholders to ensure that all stakeholder's needs and requirements are balanced and satisfied * Ensures components and systems meet all applicable regulatory demands * Understands complex injection molded interior component and soft trim system design - can design and mange deliveries toward project targets for features, cost and timing * Understands the use of quality tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc. * Provides expert leadership to the broader Cab organization, locally and globally Required Competencies * Commitment to customer success, commitment to perform and deliver, trusts and can be trusted, is passionate and embraces change Experience Required * 10+ years in transportation related product development as an accountable component owner; heavy truck experience preferred Education Required * Minimum BS degree in engineering, MS preferred Volvo Group Greensboro NC
