As an Interior Designer at DLR Group you will be working as part of integrated design teams responsible for the design and delivery processes aligned with client goals, budgets, and schedule parameters.

Position Summary:

You will be responsible for collaborating on the design of complex projects from schematic design through construction administration on projects ranging in size and complexity. You will develop comprehensive project palettes of materials and finishes. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with clients, contractors, vendors and other DLR Group team members to outline and prepare specifications.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong client, project management, and time management skills.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Prepare and develop with the team, as required, drawings, models, images, material & mood boards and other documents relating to the design.

  • Take responsibility for the development of the design and the project with input from the Principal in Charge and/or the design Leader for key project stages.

  • Have the ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.

  • Have strong creative design and drawing skills, graphic and oral design presentation skills, capacity for conceptual design thinking, and 3D design/modeling ability.

  • Seek continuing professional development.

  • Will gain thorough knowledge of and compliance with DLR Group standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least seven (7) years of experience as an Interior Designer working on commercial projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or equivalent.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite.

  • The ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks.

  • Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience designing corporate hospitality projects.

  • Proficiency with SketchUp and 3D Max/V-Ray.

  • Have interest in sustainable building design.

TYPICAL DUTIES: * Work as part of a team to design interior environments for a variety of clients and project types. * Collaborate with architects, interior designers, clients, consultants and vendors. * Assist in developing design concepts and ideas. * Select materials, furniture and equipment for a variety of project types. * Conduct material and product research as required for project development and to support design intent. * Develop client presentation materials in a variety of media to help convey design intent. * Produce interior design construction documents. * Participate in client presentations as necessary * Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Job Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and licensure highly recommended. * LEED Accredited preferred. * Minimum five years' experience in A/E industry and experience in the design of multifamily * housing projects required. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. * Strong Revit experience is required. * Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible. * Ability to work well with others under deadline situations. * Strong creative aptitude. * Excellent at conceptualizing design ideas.Other Job Information (if applicable): HED Chicago IL
