The Peralta Community College District is a two-year college system, dedicated to providing comprehensive educational and community services to the communities it serves, including the cities of Albany, Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and Piedmont California. The District enrolls over 25,000 students in a broad range of transfer and occupational curricula. The colleges in the District include College of Alameda, Laney College, Merritt College and Berkeley City College, which operate under the governance of a seven- member Board of Trustees and are administered by a Chancellor/Superintendent.

Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor of Educational Services,the Dean of Academic Pathways,
Workforce Development and Student Success has the responsibility, coordination, and oversight of districtwide efforts for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Carl Perkins, Strong Workforce Program, Oakland Promise and other categorical or grant funded programs in support of enhanced collaboration amongst the colleges with local unified school districts and charter schools. The Dean is responsible for program budget development and monitoring and assure compliance with a variety of applicable laws, rules, regulations and requirements related to community college instruction.
This is a full-time, 12-month position. The basic expectation of administrators is a minimum of 40 hours per week and administrators are expected to work during normal business hours of the District unless otherwise approved by his/her supervisor.
Duties & Responsibilities

Planning, collaboration, facilitation and implementation of instructional pathways and high school partnerships.
Collaborate and facilitate districtwide dual enrollment enrollment management efforts and CCAP and non-CCAP agreements with unified school districts and charter schools.
Develop and supervise the Educational Services budget.
Participate in the hiring and supervision of non-instructional districtwide faculty and classified staff for Educational Services.
Represent Educational Services at Bay Area Community College Consortium BACCC regional meetings.
Serve as administrator tri-chair on the PCCD Career Education participation committee.
Facililate districtwide Career Education (CE) collaboration (Strong Workforce Program and Carl Perkins) with the CE Liaisons and CE Deans.
Supervise the curriculum and system technology analyst and schedulers for class schedules in collaboration with the college Vice Presidents of Instruction and Deans.
Faciltate Oakland Promise and Dual Enrollment efforts districtwide in collaboration with the colleges
Collaborate on grant development and implementation related to students' academic success.
Support student success through dynamic partnerships with the local Workforce Invest Boards, industry partners and college advisory committees, community-based organizations.
Foster districtwide innovation through collaboration and best practices.
Participate in partner and collaboration meetings to expand dual enrollment and workforce development opportunities districtwide.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
1.Possession of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
2.One year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the
administrator's assignment.
3.Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers utilizing office
productivity software applications (i.e., work processing, spreadsheet and database management
software) including the Internet.
4.Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges' students, faculty, staff and community.
Desirable Qualifications
Possession of a Doctoral Degree from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of state and federal laws, such as Title 5 and Education Code, as well as policies, programs, regulations and services related to student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention, financial aid, matriculation, and records management.
Experience serving as a department/discipline chair or developing an academic program, writing grants, and designing curriculum.
Four (4) years of comprehensive and increasingly responsible management experience in instruction, or a related field.
Skill in oral and written communication, including public speaking and complex reports.
Skill in training, directing, supervising and evaluating the work of others.
Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer software and databases and technology related technology related to student and other educational services.
Skill in budget development, maintenance, and reporting related to general fund, grants, and other externally-funded resources.
Effective organizational, communication and public relations skills.
Evidence of a commitment to Participatory Governance.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employees must satisfy all pre-employment requirements to work for the District which include, but are not limited to, the following items:
REQUIRED FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
Tuberculosis Examination: Prior to employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit evidence (either skin test or X-ray report) of being free of tuberculosis within the past sixty (60) days. The TB test is a condition of employment and any expense must be borne by the successful candidate.
Fingerprinting Requirement:
As a condition of employment, all employees working for community colleges in the State of California are required to be fingerprinted within the first ten (10) working days of the date of employment pursuant to Education Code Section 88024. The District Office of Human Resources processes fingerprints electronically. During the employment intake process, new employees will be given information to have their fingerprints taken at another location.
Immigration Requirement: According to the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the Peralta Community College District is required to verify that all new employees are:
A citizen or national of the United States;
An alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States; or
An alien authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service to work in the United States.
All new employees are required to complete and sign a verification form and provide documentation attesting that he/she is a United States citizen, national, or an alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
District Policy: A Social Security Card will be required following selection and prior to completion of the hiring process. The employment process cannot be completed without a copy of the Social Security Card on file in the Office of Human Resources.

In addition to your contribution, Peralta pays 19.10%* of your salary to the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS). Effective January 1, 2013, the PEPRA went into effect.
