Position Overview:

SDOT's Transportation Operations Division (TOD) is looking to hire an Intelligent Transportation Systems Analyst (under the City's classification title of Management Systems Analyst). The ITS Analyst will analyze and automate existing data collection procedures to maintain databases of the City's ITS assets, like traffic signals, crosswalk beacons, school flashing beacons, and communication network hubs. Make recommendations to TOD managers of how to keep these databases updated with new levy projects. These updated databases will help optimize asset utilization, facilitate proper maintenance and repair, and ensure the agency's assets are accounted for, resulting in reduced costs, increased efficiency, and better decision-making. This position will report to the ITS Maintenance Manager.

  • Integrate existing systems for field work reporting & labor/vehicle costs and compile them into a single system.

  • Process data related to traffic signal maintenance.

  • Create reporting dashboards and data visualization tools to provide asset-related metrics like signal conditions, and installation dates, ETC.

  • Auto-generate work plans based on signal condition assessment reports and make recommendations to Signal Maintenance Manager for distribution of work assignments for signal preventative maintenance, repairs, and other Levy projects

  • Create GIS maps by compiling data from various sources, including creating new symbology to match signal plans and signal component locations to accurately track field work being done.

  • Analyze Traffic Signal Asset Database.

  • Inventory materials in warehouse.

  • Automate and update current operating procedures.

  • Generate future work plans.

  • Supports department goals in promoting diversity and social justice in keeping with the City's Race and Social Justice Initiative.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires two (2) years in systems, operational, procedures, research or analysis, and a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, finance, computer science or a related field (or a combination of education, training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background required to performs he work of the class).

Successful candidates will possess many of these additional qualifications or be able to demonstrate comparable experience and expertise:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Sharepoint, Excel, Power Automate, PowerApps, PowerBI, Access, ArcGIS, and Hansen - SDOT's enterprise data management system.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Good understanding of demographic and statistical principles.

  • Ability to effectively work in a multicultural workplace with a diverse customer base.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office/warehouse environments with hybrid work options at this time.

The full salary range for this position is $40.08 - $46.68 per hour.
