Job Description

On the battlefield, success depends on accurate and timely intel. As an Army National Guard Intelligence Analyst, you will play a key role in the interpretation and exploitation of information gathered from or about the enemy. Intelligence Analysts provide Guard personnel with information about enemy forces and potential battle areas, and use information derived from all intelligence disciplines to determine changes in enemy capabilities, vulnerabilities, and probable courses of action.

Specific duties of the Intelligence Analyst may include: preparation of all-source intelligence products; providing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Synchronization support; processing incoming reports and messages; determining the significance and reliability of incoming information; establishing and maintaining systematic, cross-reference intelligence records and files; integrating incoming information with current intelligence holdings; and the preparation and maintenance of graphics.

Job training for an Intelligence Analyst consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and on-the-job instruction, including practice in intelligence gathering. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

WHAT IS THE LARGE BUSINESS & INTERNATIONALDIVISION? The Large Business and International (LB&I) business unit provides service and enforcement activities to support tax compliance of businesses and related entities with assets of $10 million or more, as well as small U.S. businesses engaged in international, U.S. citizens abroad, and foreign persons and businesses with a U.S. tax requirement. WHAT DOES A COMPUTER RESEARCH ANALYST DO? As a Computer Research Analyst, you will contribute to research projects through effective application of principles of computer methodology and technology. You will be responsible for conducting research on trends, issues, problems and opportunities in tax administration. Assignments typically involve the development and application of new techniques and require innovative solutions, including adapting or synthesizing existing principles and techniques into original combinations or configurations for the solution of critical features or problems. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position. As a Computer Research Analyst you will: * Monitor current and emerging automation and technology trends, investigating new computer technologies while ensuring computer security and taxpayer privacy. * Plan and conduct computer automation application to compliance research studies. The incumbent develops and initiates sound solutions through effective application of principles of computer methodology and technology as well as tax law knowledge. * Plan, initiate and conduct compliance research and research evaluations. Assumes a leadership role in the analysis and development of automated research techniques and methods to support the business unit. Initiates and coordinates automated research activities that will culminate in the development of solutions to compliance research information system problems. Maintains thorough knowledge of commercial computing technology. * Provide computer assistance to staff and researchers.
